How did the wealthy live in Amsterdam canal houses? Take a peek behind the curtains in a historic 17th century house on the Herengracht. The Willet-Holthuysen Museum is the only fully furnished patrician house open daily to the public. Its last residents were Abraham Willet and his wife Louisa Holthuysen, who left the house, its contents and its sizeable art collection to the city in 1895.The museum features a series of period rooms in elegant Louis-XVI style and an annual program of exhibitions.
